TOP 10 TAMIL FILMS IN THE FIRST HALF OF 2015

As the title goes and with me having nothing better to do for the weekends, I've sum up with what could be the best 10 films so far this year (up to June releases). Obviously the list varies with people but I'm sure you would agree that these films had a stamp in our hearts up to today. Here it goes :-

10. Vai Raja Vai

  • A film that surprisingly hooked my interest. Vivek's performance and Dhanush's cameo being the main highlights of the film.
  • Best song pick: 'Pachchai Vanna Poove'
  • Box office verdict: Average
  • My rating: 6/10

9. Kanchana 2

  • Despite the most cliche climax and worst use of CGI during the last scenes of the film, it managed to storm the box office with it's never-ending humor! Not to mention the performance produced by Taapsee as well. A true comeback for her.
  • Best song pick: 'Vaaya Veera'
  • Box office verdict: Blockbuster
  • My rating: 7/10

8. Isai

  • A comeback film for S.J Suryah and a fine way to do so as well. A well made psychological thriller supported by a strong performance from Sathyaraj and SJ Suryah himself. Highlight of the film were comedy scenes involving Sathyaraj and  the much talked about climax scene.
  • Best song pick: 'Isai Veesi'
  • Box office verdict: Below average
  • My rating: 7/10

7. Yennai Arindhal

  • Ajith and Gautham Menon both somewhat did justice to this cop oriented drama yet stealing the spotlight was Arun Vijay with his memorable performance.
  • Best song pick: 'Adhaaru Adhaaru'
  • Box office verdict: Average
  • My rating: 7/10

6. Masss

  • An all-around entertainer of the year and a deserved 'sixer' for Venkat Prabhu. Despite the loopholes, the emotional sequences in the second half somewhat made up to it. Mindless fun guaranteed!
  • Best song pick: 'Piravi'
  • Box office verdict: Below average
  • My rating: 7/10

5. Rajathandhiram

  • A brilliant script, stunning background music, racy screenplay and crisp editing was all it needed to make it to the top 5.
  • Best song pick: -
  • Box office verdict: Below average
  • My rating: 7.5/10

4. 36 Vayadhinile

  • An emotional roller-coaster ride backed by a strong content and a powerful performance by Jyotika. Truly a joy to watch her on screen again!
  • Best song pick: 'Happy- Nazhu Kazhudha'
  • Box office verdict: Hit
  • My rating: 7.5/5

3. O Kadhal Kanmani

  • One way of watching love on screen. A neatly packaged romance drama from Mani Ratnam. Highlights are the exceptional music from A.R Rahman and an all round excellent technical aspects of the film.
  • Best song pick: 'Mental Manadhil'
  • Box office verdict: Hit
  • My rating: 8/10

2. Anegan

  • Over build-up action scenes was the only let down to the almost perfect Dhanush's Valantines Day venture.
  • Best song pick: 'Thodu Vaanam'
  • Box office verdict: Hit
  • My rating: 8/10

1. Kakka Muttai

  • The feeling of triumphant and joy when you walk off from the cinema hall......priceless. Kakka Muttai wasn't just a film, it was a journey of life.
  • Best song pick: 'Karappu Karappu'
  • Box office verdict: Super-hit
  • My rating: 9.5/10

Special mentions: Uttama Villain, Shankar's I, Demonte colony, Darling, Indru Netru Naalai, Yagavarayinum Naa Kaakka
