KAVALAN MOVIE REVIEW

Plot - 8/10
Comedy - 8/10
Drama - 7/10
Cinematography - 8/10
Overall - 8/10

Bravo! Bravo! Bravo! Vijay is set to return after a series of flops and his return is absolutely fantastic in Kavalan. The definition for Vijay's Kavalan : A soft and fluffy dough of pizza layered with melting cheese, topped with mixtures of mouth-watering fillings and baked in a hot oven. LOVE IT!!!

Kavalan is not Vijay's typical masala film with punch dialogues and rough actions but it is proven that a film is better without it. The plot was somewhat a remake of 90's Tamil film with today's state-of-the-art technologies. You need to understand that the plot did not make the film good but rather the performance executed by the cast.

In this romance film, Vijay is ordered to be a bodyguard (Kavalan ) to an ex mogul's daughter ( Asin ) and love blossoms unexpectedly between them. When I say UNEXPECTED, I really mean it! Why? The twist in the climax will make some of you cry or even go mad......

Kavalan will never bore you easily because of our Vaigai Puyal Vadivelu. His comedy scenes will definitely hit the charts this year but it was not as good as Boss Engira Bhaskaran or Siva Manasula Sakthi. He will make you laugh if you are willing to do so. Therefore do not go with very high expectations for the film.

Oh yeah the songs. When they had the album release I did not find the songs interesting enough. Even before watching Kavalan, the songs just can't get into me. I am surprised to say that the plus point of the film is the songs itself. It was shot beautifully in different locations and the lyrics will drive you towards the screen. Ekambaram has done a fantastic job as cameraman (even though Kandasaamy and Sura were average) because many scenes, especially the songs had camerawork like Hindi movies. This is one of the films that you must not go to the toilets during the songs.... :)

Best thing about the film is the camera will not show Vijay all the time like his previous movies and all the characters acquire proper screen time and importance. Go to the movie with no expectations and you will definitely enjoy. The director deserves praises and credits for making the film fun, enjoyable and intriguing.

Kavalan is a must watch.......
