Debut director Manikandan had made the right choice by releasing KLTA for this year's Ponggal celebration not because the film is very good but because it outruns Karthi's most anticipated Alex Pandian in all ways possible!
Three best friends KK (Santhanam), Power (Srinivasan), and Sethu who were always very close ended up liking a same girl and their different approaches to tackle her is the film's backbone. There wasn't a single twist in the film thus makes it very predictable all the way but did you really enter the cinema hall to witness a long complicated drama or to crackle at Santhanam's punchy liners?
The only highlight in this film is the comedy scenes but was it really up to the par with Siva Manusula Sakthi or Oru Kal Oru Kannadi? The answer is sadly no. The film tries very hard to be funny at times thus forcing the cast to overreact at certain scenes which is pretty annoying especially scenes involving Powerstar or/and Kovai Sarala. There were also many hectic scenes where a few characters tries to talk at the same time which actually was a pain to the ear. The first half of the film had only a couple of laugh out loud scenes and for a film with comedy genre, it was really disappointing. Second half of the film was a better part and the scene in the bar was a winner. Santhanam again steals the show all way long, no doubt about that. Background music and sound editing was a major minus and the cinematography was just decent. Songs that were nice to ears were downgraded by poor dancing skills of actors on screen.
So who won the Ponggal race this year? Neither Alex Pandian or Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasiya deserves standing ovation but there stands up a guy in both these films, bringing cheers for this festive season as much as he could and my sincere wishes for his streak success to continue.......
